Brief Summary of Interests in Healthcare Construction Management

Mr. Lasker is Asst. Professor of Healthcare Construction Management, responsible for curriculum development of the newest specialty offering in the BCM Program. Healthcare Construction Mgmt the delivery process. Health-care construction management refers to any facility used in the health-care industry – ranging from hospitals and clinics to nursing homes and laboratories. Constructors and managers working in the field must be familiar with factors such as infectious materials control, disruption avoidance, rapid technology changes, and advanced mechanical and electrical systems that are not typical in other types of building projects. Professor Lasker’s curriculum emphasizes the interrelationship of planning, design, and construction and will provide internship opportunities, project case studies, and invited guest lecturers of national and international prominence.

PROFESSIONALLY-MANAGED CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PROVIDER with over twenty years experience in residential, commercial, industrial and government construction, eleven of those as Owner/General Manager. Core competencies include:

GENERAL MANAGER, Lasker Construction Group, Conway, AR (June 1994- June 2005)

  • Managed a control growth strategy, having grown company from single-source provider to over forty five employees and increased revenues from $450,000 to $14.5 million per year;
  • Manage various aspects of business, including bidding strategy, project management from conception to completion, forging of strategic alliances, cost analysis and controls, and managing and motivating project teams;
  • Acquired diverse military, public, healthcare (Veteran’s Administration), residential, multi-family development, banking, AHTD and commercial projects up to $14.5 million in value by networking and increasing company’s reputation in industry;
  • Evaluate and select technological systems that support the work of the firm, such as project management software, inventory control systems and computer networks;
  • Completed SBA’s~9 year Small Business Administration 8(a) Program and was first graduate to successfully negotiate contracts with HUD and the Federal Aviation Administration;
  • Developed and implemented a differentiated customer service policy that delivers a stress free, collaborative building process characterized by accountability, open communication and customer having a sense of control over the results;
  • Collaborated with Workforce Development Agency to create a “Small Contractors Mentoring Program” which provided education and training to minority contractors;
  • Honored as “Minority Contractor of the Year” (2003) by the Minority Enterprise Development Committee;
  • Advocated for laws and government actions to meet the concerns of minority contractors and to achieve better diversity in government contracting, on behalf of National Association of Minority Contractors.
