Graduates of the first two years of the aviation management program receive an associate in applied science degree and are qualified to assist in the operation of airlines, airports, and airport service industries. Most of the students who graduate from the two-year aviation management degree program go on to pursue the bachelor of science degree.
Students pursuing a bachelor of science degree will receive additional specialized instruction in aviation and other areas like accounting, supervision, and economics. Additionally, as part of their degree requirements, all aviation management students take five selective courses from a variety of course offerings in one of two focus areas: airline management or airport management. Students will also complete a capstone course in their selected focus area.
Special programs are available to students in two areas. First, Purdue is one of just thirteen universities in the country to offer coursework leading to preferential hiring by the FAA as an air traffic controller. Second, students may pursue courses leading to eligibility to take the Certified Member Examination of the American Association of Airport Executives.
